I have never heard of Rich Martini before. I came across a freebie album in my wife's collection when loading CDs on our new music server. I normally don't hold out much hope for promotional CDs. They almost always suck - hence they try (and often fail) to give them away.

Straight Up, the title of Rich Martini's album was a pleasant surprise. I install high-end sound systems and know what good masterings sound like. I was impressed with how cleanly and well recorded it was first off. Secondly, I was pleased with how good they are. While not Old Blue Eyes, I have no problem listening to the album from beginning to end.

This band seems to be in a real tough spot - playing music with a small market share that won't get mass airplay and not quite good enough to make it selling tons of albums to warrant a recording contract in a niche segment of the music industry, yet they are easily good enough to make anybody who likes band music smile.
If you are lucky enough to come across a CD that bears their name, enjoy your good luck. I personally hope to be lucky enough to hear them play live at least once.
