Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 as a result of a Gospel music workshop led by Emmy-winning co-founder and Artistic Director, Terrance Kelly, at Rhythmic Concepts' Jazz Camp West. The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir Ensemble consists of 15 singers and 4 musicians, representing a multi-racial, multi-cultural, interfaith community of diversity. The Oakland Interfaith Gospel ChoirEnsemble is well-known for it's annual Christmas Eve shows at Slim's in San Francisco. Over the years, this sub-group of the larger, 65-member choir has received recognition by Sunset Magazine and San Francisco Magazine, and Tony Hicks of The Sunday Times praises the group as having "some of the best voices in the Bay Area".
