The Teena Marie Experience Tribute Band featuring Carmen Jones on
lead vocals, takes their audience on a journey through a quintessential time in
R&B/Funk music history that will live forever. Carmen Jones, who has sung
with music industry talents such as Jamie Foxx is able to convey the emotion,
onstage banter and vocal tones of Teena Marie in a way that comes naturally.
In the late 1980's Jones had the opportunity to sing for Teena Marie and her
band when they performed in Oakland, CA. Jones was asked by the band to record
what would be Jones' first studio demo recording, and while Teena's band suggested
marketing Jones as Marie's "baby sis", Marie and Jones never reconnected.
Jones remained a loyal fan and upon the untimely passing of Teena Marie in December,
2010, Jones was deeply touched and immediately inspired to put together a musical
tribute to the legendary Teena Marie.
The Teena Marie Experience Tribute Band sold out their first
ever concert in the San Francisco Bay Area and after wooing the crowd to standing
ovation, they will continue to thrill audiences all over the globe.
