The Backstreet Boys redefined pop music over 15 years ago when they launched a
new generation of teen idols for millions of adolescent girls all over the world.
Members include, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin
Richardson. The band has sold over 75 million albums total and their first two
released received a Diamond Award from selling more than 10 million copies of
their album titled Backstreet Boys in 1997, and Millennium in 1999, which hit
number one. The Backstreet Boys have had five chart-toppers as well as twelve
top 40 hits. The band decided to take break from 2002 to 2005, but began recording
Unbreakable in 2006, which features the groups pop sound. Unbreakable opened at
number seven on The Billboard 200, selling 81,000 copies in its first week of
release. This Is Us was released in October of 2009 and debuted at number nine
on the Billboard 200, selling 42,000 copies in its first week of being released.
That same month, the group went on the This Is Us World Tour, which concluded
on March 26, 2011. In November 2010, The Backstreet Boys closed out the American
Music Awards with New Kids on the Block and have confirmed that they will be embarking
on a world tour with their brother boy band this year.
