Gigi Jensen left the field of education in 1998 to found Tango
A Media Luz with business partner, Pampa Cortés (a "Forever
Tango" principal from 1994 - 1996). The company’s mission was to teach
and present the Argentine tango & folkloric dances. She was the administrative
director for 8 years.
She founded Tango and More - Argentine Dance in August 2006. This fiscally
sponsored non-profit (under World Arts West) is dedicated to the preservation
and sharing of traditional Argentine dances including tango, folkloric, and
malambos. She teaches weekly tango classes with husband Warren Jensen. She recently
taught intensive tango courses including teacher training and public classes
at the Artecentro Graciela Andrade de Paiz in Guatemala. She directs Ballet
Folklórico Argentino de San Francisco. The community tango performance
group (amateurs of all dance abilities and ages) presents historical vignettes
celebrating various tango eras.
